Website loading speed increase
The website loading speed is one of the main factors to affect visitors looking around your website. Google has included this consideration in their algorithm that determines search results, back in 2010. It means that Google prefers optimised, faster websites over those that are slow.
There are many factors that influence the website speed. The most basic ones include factors such as the platform, the quality of the development, the number of files, the compression of the files, the size of the images, server response speed, cache setting an so on. Most can be affected by the website developer but some, like server speed, depend on your hosting. Generally speaking, shared servers are slower than dedicated ones (used only for your website).
Recent studies have shown that if the website takes more than 3 seconds to load then 40% of users will leave your website without even opening a page. Also, 47% of users expect your website to load in less than 2 seconds. For mobile phones the numbers are the same but the loading speed can be lower due to the connection and therefore the number of people leaving your site might be even higher. That negatively affects your ranking. But even if we forget about the ranking, the point is that disappointed users will not come back.
